Summer

We do not continue our regular volunteers shifts during the summer. Instead, teens ages 13-18 have the option of volunteering to assist with our Summer Reading Program table. Every summer, the Portage District Library hosts a Summer Reading Program for all ages. Over 2000 people participate in this program, and a portion of the program is run in the library by area teens. Teen volunteers help people of all ages sign up and enter progress via an online form, hand out prizes and praise, and complete other tasks such as program preparation and clerical duties. Our Teen Summer Volunteer Information Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 pm. It is not required that you attend this meeting, but it is the first chance you would have to sign up for shifts. Call the Youth Information Desk (269)329-4542 ext. 603, for more information.

If you have any questions, please email teen volunteer coordinator Laura Wright at lwright@portagelibrary.info.
