Newspapers and Journals Databases:

  • InfoTrac NewsstandMEL Database

    The InfoTrac Newsstand newspaper database allows users to search articles instantly by title, headline, date, newspaper section or other assigned fields, searching a collection of more than 1,000 newspapers, including The Grand Rapids Press, and the New York Times, as well as other Michigan Newspapers.

  • Kalamazoo Gazette Online (inside the library only)

    This provides access from inside the library to the eReplica edition of the paper

  • Literature Resource CenterPDL Databse

    This contains critical analysis and biographies of over 120,000 writers and their works of literature. This database contains large numbers of literary criticism articles and is extremely useful to the high school or college level student.

  • New Book of Popular SciencePDL Databse

    This Grolier database, aimed at the K-12 age group, covers current topics in science and technology using nontechnical language. It includes scientific biographies, science projects, science news, and reference encyclopedias.

  • Opposing Viewpoints in ContextMEL Database

    Opposing Viewpoints in Context is the starting place for those seeking contextual information and opinions on hundreds of today's hottest social issues. It features continuously updated viewpoint articles, topic overviews, full-text magazines, academic journals, news articles, primary source documents, statistics, images, videos, audio files and links to vetted websites organized into a user-friendly portal experience. The place to go for persuasive speech or debate assignments.

  • SIRS RenaissanceMEL Database

    This database is recommended for: High school, College and University. Full text. Provides dynamic information on the following topics: architecture and design, culture, literature, multimedia, music, performing arts, philosophy and religion, and visual art. The SIRS suite also includes numerous student and teacher tools.
