    Provides definitions of a wide variety of acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations and similar contractions, translating them into their full names or meanings. Terms from subject areas such as associations, education, the Internet, medicine and others are included.

  • Art Institute of Chicago: The Online Collections

    Explore the Art Institute of Chicago's online collections, which offer access to over 87,000 works and basic information about works of art from all areas of the AIC's encyclopedic collection. Browse the collections by selecting one of the categories shown on the left side of the page. Or, search by entering terms into the "Quick Search."

  • British Museum Online Image Collections

    The database is an inventory of the Museum’s collection and aims to record what is known about it. It is primarily designed to support curatorial and research work, and much of the text is specialised in nature and terminology. There are currently 2,246,659 records available, which represent more than 3,500,000 objects.

  • CyberLibrary Portage Public Schools High Schools

    The Portage Public School system is fortunate enough to have some incredible resources at their students' disposal. These include databases purchased for the school, as well as helpful searching and media production hints developed by your Portage Public Schools media specialists. Since some of these (especially the ones that you see when you click the binoculars icon) are licensed, you may need to use the logins that you received at school. If you have forgotten these--we know, it happens--come to the library information desk and show us your current PPS student ID and we can assist you in accessing these resources. We are sorry, but we cannot give this information without the ID, over the phone, or via email, as that violates the user agreement between schools and vendors.

  • Detroit Institute of Art: Online Collections

    Search collections by artist's last name, key words in the title, artist nationality, and other fields. It is not necessary to fill in all of the boxes.Only a portion of the DIA's complete collection is represented online.

  • Getty Museum Online Collections

    The Getty Search Gateway allows users to search across several of the Getty repositories, including collections databases, library catalogs, collection inventories, and archival finding aids. This tool is designed to help researchers, scholars, and educators discover the variety of resources available across the Getty's collections, which include collections in each the four programs: the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation, and the Getty Research Institute. Users can use the tool to browse our collections broadly, by type of resource (i.e., paintings, books, archives), or to search directly for assets related to very specific subjects—historical periods, artists, object types, etc.
