Portage District Library Quick Links

What a Monday!

Well, if you are reading this you either have power, or are in a place that, somehow, still has power. Wow, what a storm! I don’t know if it would be considered “historic” but it sure did pack an unexpected punch. The library did manage to make it through (so far) without losing power although we did have a flicker here and there. As for the Heritage Room, nothing much to report due to my time being spent on the Youth Desk helping the public (many of whom were seeking both knowledge and warmth). I did manage to work a bit on the Portage Schools composite database but this was done only between the numerous questions. One big question remains…when will things settle back to normal? Hopefully soon!

One major note…
The Kalamazoo Valley Genealogical Society Meeting scheduled for this evening (7:00) here at the Portage District Library has been canceled per the societies president.
No information is available on rescheduling and my guess is that the meeting will simply not take place this month.

February 20th, 1861
(yes I know today is the 21st however nothing of note happened so I am defaulting to the 20th)
