Program Highlights: Meet the Chef and Buy Local

Posted January 4, 2010 in  Events

January at the Portage District Library has lots of great programs in store, from meetings of the Kalamazoo County Historical Society to Creative Explorations, a K-12 Art Show .

Of special interest will be our first Meet the Chef program of the year. Sign up begins January 11th for this program which will be conducted on January 25th and 26th. With a taste of Mediterranean cuisine and culture, this program will feature Louie ZaZa and is hosted by Zooroona Restaurant & Lounge. You may stay for dinner following the cooking demonstration.

On January 28th, we kick off a large series of programs about buying local with Stay Healthy – Cooking and Eating Well Locally. There is no better way to stay well during the winter season than to eat well. Shopping for the best ingredients and cooking at home is an important part of eating well. Panelists David Brownell of Lakeside Mercantile, Rosie Florian of People’s Food Co-op, and Kate Wunderlin of Natural Health Center will help you learn about healthy eating options and the great resources available at local businesses.
