PRICING CHANGE ON EBOOKS FROM RANDOM HOUSE WILL EFFECT HOW LIBRARIES PURCHASE BOOKS

Posted March 2, 2012 in  eBook News and HelpGeneral

As you may have heard in recent news, Random House, Inc. will be raising its eBook prices on March 1, 2012. OverDrive had several meetings with the Random House library team and they expressed their ongoing appreciation of the strong support libraries provide for their titles and authors. Random House is providing all new eBook releases to the library simultaneously with those in print/retail. On March 1, 2012 Random House did raise their prices by 300%. This astronomical price raise put the cost of digital books at or above the cost of a hard copy.
