New Checkout Area is Opening Soon!

Posted May 13, 2010 in  General

As you may have noticed on a recent visit to the library, our Circulation Redesign Project that was planned and saved for over the past few years is nearing completion. Once the remaining furnishings are installed, we will re-open our lobby area for regular Checkout Services, including 4 new self-checkout kiosks with credit/debit payment options, and shelving for our most in-demand movies, music, and games.

During the renovation, the new self-checkout stations have been available for use and are becoming very popular; they are already helping us process 30% of all items being borrowed. We hope that by utilizing self-checkout we can keep checkout lines to a minimum and provide more opportunities for personalized assistance to help you find what you need. The Checkout Desk staff members, who will remain at a service desk in the lobby, will always be available to help you by checking out items or assisting you with any account questions or problems. Even when you use a self-checkout kiosk, they will still be close at hand to help you.

THANK YOU for your understanding regarding any disruptions or delays that may have impacted your use of the library during our renovation. We can’t wait to show-off our new service area, so please join us on Sunday, May 16 from 2-3:30 p.m. when you can also get a behind-the scenes peek of our new workroom with automated check-in! You’ll have an opportunity to visit with the Library Director, Christine Berro, and other members of the staff, while enjoying music from keyboardist, Doug Chamberlin, and entertainment from the Education for the Arts dancers.
