15th Annual Community Literary Awards Featuring Jaimy Gordon

Fifteen years ago, the Kalamazoo Gazette began a program called the Community Literary Awards to encourage aspiring writers and poets by giving them a chance to submit their short stories and poems in a juried competition. This writing competition and awards ceremony are sponsored by the Kalamazoo Gazette, Portage District Library, Kalamazoo Public Library, Kazoo Books, Michigan News 6:30 PM Agency, Lowry’s Books and More, and Bookbug for Kids. This year the awards ceremony will take place at the Portage District Library on Wednesday, April 20th, with a reception starting at 6:30 PM and a presentation at 7:00 PM. National Book Award winner, Jaimy Gordon, author of Lord of Misrule and professor at Western Michigan University will be the featured speaker. No registration is required.
